INGREDIENTS:

Coconut milk has the best texture and flavor of any nondairy milk, especially when it is full fat. Coconut gives Anita’s the same consistency of whole milk greek yogurt, with health benefits galore.

Mango is Anita’s favorite flavor and pairs perfectly with our coconut yogurt. We use only ripe, organic mangoes, coconut blossom sugar and a touch of lemon to make our fruit base.

Blueberry is the country’s #1 selling yogurt flavor, and we love that blueberries are a native species. Our version is made with organic, American blueberries. We add chia seeds to thicken the fruit layer without additives, and for an added dose of fiber and protein.

NUTRITION:

IS IT PROBIOTIC?
Yes. Anita’s has 4 probiotic strains like L. acidophilus that aid in digestion. Each serving has more than 8 billion live cultures. The live cultures we use are vegan and allergen-free.

WHY IS THE FAT CONTENT HIGH?
Anita’s is made from pure, unprocessed coconut milk and is therefore full fat. Full fat is the most nutrient rich and easily digestible form of coconut milk.

WHERE’S THE PROTEIN?
Anita’s Yogurt contains a nominal amount of protein. In contrast, high protein yogurts* are made with animal products or additives. Anita’s is a plant-based product with no additives and contains only the nutrients occurring naturally in pure organic coconut milk. It is allergy-friendly and easily digestible. For added protein, combine Anita’s with hempseeds, pea protein or supplement of your choice.
*Although Greek-style yogurt is high in protein, up to 2/3 of the milk used to produce it is thrown away in the form of strained-off whey, or biological waste. This has begun to negatively impact our environment.

DOES IT CONTAIN SUGAR?
No (the 1g of sugar per serving is derived naturally from the coconut water). Because Anita’s is unsweetened, it is suitable for use in savory recipes like curry. Our fruit yogurts contain coconut sugar, derived from coconut palm blossoms.

THE TEXTURE OF MY YOGURT WAS DIFFERENT THAN MY LAST ONE. IS THIS NORMAL?
Anita’s is a small batch, handmade product made from non-homogenized milk. It contains no stabilizers or other additives, so variations may occur.

NITTY-GRITTY:

SHELF LIFE:
5 weeks from date of manufacture.

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP ONCE IT’S OPENED?
The yogurt should last through the date stamped on the package if it is kept refrigerated.

CAN I FREEZE IT?
Freezing changes the texture and flavor of the yogurt and is not recommended.

IS IT RAW?
No. We pasteurize the milk. Cultures are added after pasteurization so that they are live and active.

IS THE FOIL SEAL RECYCLABLE?
Yes. Please rinse before disposal.

WHAT IF THE SEAL IS BROKEN WHEN I BUY IT?
Our packaging is tamper evident. If the seal is broken, do not consume. Return to the store for a replacement or refund.

WHY DID THE NUTRITION FACTS CHANGE?
Our serving size used to be 4 ounces. Starting in 2018, the FDA has mandated that serving size for all yogurt is 6 ounces. Nutritional facts will change in accordance with the new serving size. We decided to comply early on our new containers. More info is available here. But feel free to eat as much or as little Anita’s yogurt as you please!

WHY IS IT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER NONDAIRY YOGURTS?
Why are other nondairy yogurts so cheap? The answer is on the ingredient panel. They water-down their product to make it cost-competitive with dairy. Then, to balance out that added water, they add starches, stabilizers, thickeners, sugar, preservatives and flavors. Some have up to 20 ingredients! We have only milk (coconut water, too, for flavor) and cultures. Those are the 2 most expensive ingredients in other yogurts.

ALL ABOUT COCONUTS:

IS YOUR COCONUT MILK SUSTAINABLE/FAIR-TRADE?
The milk we use is not certified sustainable or fair trade. The manufacturer has, however, undergone a third party audit to ensure workers are treated and paid fairly. They also use alternative means of production to cut costs, and in the process, have cut carbon emissions. For example, they transport coconuts using a system of canals, instead of using trucks.

WHERE DOES THE COCONUT MILK COME FROM?
Thailand.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COCONUT MILK AND COCONUT WATER?
Coconut milk is made from the meat of mature coconuts, shredded and pressed with water. Coconut water comes from immature coconuts. They each have their own, separate benefits. For example, the yogurt has a high potassium content because of the coconut water.
