The list is short, and the ingredients are of the highest quality: peak-season oranges, Anita’s, and real vanilla bean with just enough maple syrup to toe the line between breakfast and dessert. Orange zest is one of our favorite ingredients. Folded into cake batter, it adds a barely detectable bright note that perfectly compliments vanilla. Sprinkle some orange zest over carrots before roasting them to balance their earthy richness. This smoothie gives you a more immediate fix and a welcome dose of sunshine.
serves 1 (makes 1 1/2 cups)
1ea orange, zested & peeled
3/4 cup Anita’s coconut yogurt, divided
1 tsp maple syrup, divided
1ea vanilla bean, scraped, divided
Add the orange, 1/4 cup yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup, and 1/2 the vanilla bean seeds to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a small vessel with a spout or a bowl.
Add the remaining 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup, orange zest, and vanilla bean seeds to the blender and blend until smooth. Alternate layers of the yogurt smoothie and the orange smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately.
